September 14th ~ Thrown a Curve

My daughter came into my room this morning to give me some morning cuddles.

She's 6.

We played our usual "How much do you love me" game...where we take turns thinking of crazy amounts of love for each other. Like, "I love you all the way to Jupiter, around the sun 3 times and back." "Well, I love YOU around the world forwards and backwards 5 gazillion times and back!" This goes on and on for about 5 minutes...

Her final one to me this morning was, "Well, I love YOU to God and back! You can't go farther than that, Mom."

She had me there. :)

And so with a tender smile I watched her skip away down the hallway in her underwear ~

and noticed that her little body is changing too.

She has a waist....and her legs have feminine curves.....

Dear God, where are the breaks? Time is traveling too fast again.

I hear ya, sister! My son, whose 7, has hands the same size as mine and uses words like "literally" correctly in sentences. My 3-year-old's new favorite phrase is "for Pete's Sake". What the hell? My 6-year-old talks to God regularly and gives me advice straight from the horses mouth. Priceless!

Awwwww Mary...aren't they wonderful? My oldest two Ages 12 and 11 amaze me too just as much now as when they were little.

Being a parent is not easy...but the rewards are incredible.

    Sweet..

Trudy..in answer to your question over at my blog...my take on the "celebs" who appeared is that at least they were doing something or bringing needed supplies into the area. Like all of us, I think they felt as powerless and in need of "doing" something just as we did and do. The difference of course is that they attrack attention.

I do think the politicans on the other hand had agendas and while they may expedite help...they certainly seemed to be self serving.

My first day in the trenches I did resent the media in general...I felt they were truly intrusive. I was approached several times by camera people and turned away.

But hey...I'm a cynical guy anyway...which I am sure comes as no surprise to you! Thanks for stopping by, thanks for reading.

You daughter is in good hands I think!

    Trud,

Enjoy every second of parenthood, even the bad ones. They grow up just way too fast! And take it from me, a mother of three (27, 25, and 21) they NEVER stop amazing/worrying/delighting you.

Take pictures, make memories, enjoy enjoy ENJOY! You will never pass this way again.

Man, do I get it. I'm never sure which is more disturbing: my daughter's 8-year old hips or my 5-year old telling me he needs to focus.

What's the word on your Mom, Trudy?

STB ~ Thanks so much for replying to my question. It's good to hear things from the perspective on one who was/is there.

KL ~ If my munchkins turn out as wonderful as yours...I'll be so proud! I hope we end up having the type of relationship you have with yours. I love the way they interact with you.

Sarah ~ lol surprising how many families play that game. It does make you all warm and mushy, doesn't it? (happy sigh)

Gina ~ Yes they do..have you noticed how time whips by faster and faster each year? Dammit

Inger ~ lol @ your 5 year old needing to focus! LOL They are so cute! I'll go post about my Mom now.
